AS/NZS 4801 2001 - NZ HSE Act 1992 and Regulations 1995 compliance incorporating AS/NZS 4801 2001 conformance requirements
This audit model is designed to meet the requirements of those companies who have previously developed a Quality Management System and have adopted quality principles for Safety and Health Management using NZS 4804 Guidelines to be measured against AS/NZS 4801.

The overall aim of the NZ 4801 (Int):1999 Standard is to support the achievement of the highest levels of OHS performance through systematic elimination or reduction of workplace risks.

The key objective is to set audible criteria for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems within NZ organisations. The aim is to encompass the best elements of such systems already widely used in Australia and New Zealand.

The Standard was initially intended to cover Safety and Health Management Systems throughout Australasia, but there are some minor misinterpretations of Risks versus Hazards and the current NZ legislation differs from the majority of Australian legislation, which allows for greater union involvement. NZ legislation may well change in the near future to allow acceptance of a joint standard for both Australia and New Zealand.

The Standard provides a generic framework for all OSHMS that can easily be integrated in with other management systems to achieve OHS, as well as economic, and other organisational goals. The Standard supports compliance with all legislative requirements and promotes excellence in OHS management through the process of continual improvement. Certification to this standard can only be obtained with all requirements of the Standard complying.

TOSHA can help. Our auditors are all highly qualified and experienced in the audit function, both at OHS, and Quality Management levels. They are all registered with the Quality Society of Australasia from Associate to Senior Lead Auditor status. They have been professionally trained in auditing systems, practices, processes, people behaviour, and work to a strict Code of Ethics.
