AUDITING Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Workplace Assessments
Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Workplace Assessment
Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 (HSNO) was passed in Parliament in June 1996. It repealed a number of existing laws, and significantly altered others. In particular, the Act repealed the Toxic Substance, Pesticides, Dangerous Goods and Explosives Acts, and did away with those parts of the Plants and Animals Acts that were in force as transitional arrangements. However, until such time as the transfers are completed from one control regime to the new, most hazardous substances will retain current controls under the repealed Acts. Having said that, workplace controllers cannot afford to sit on their laurels, and should take a proactive approach toward identifying their duties, and responsibilities, such that they are well prepared for the pending change.
At TOSHA we are able to provide industry with people who have a sound background in hazardous substance management, and have stayed abreast of the progression of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act (HSNO). Using the TOSHA HSNO Workplace Review Guide Report, we are able to provide your organisation with recommendations to meet the requirements of the HSNO Act and associated Regulations.
