2. Workstation Assessment
TOSHA is delighted to introduce you to Bronwyn Green, Occupational Therapist, and specialising in workstation assessment. Workstation assessments are completed using the OSH checklist, providing the information required covering an employer under the HSE Act.
Where an employee is experiencing discomfort working at his/her workstation , Bronwyn has the skills to provide early intervention, adapting the workstation, advising alternative work techniques and methods to minimise the build up of muscle tension, and advising the employee of self management techniques to help reduce the discomfort. This can all be carried out at the time of the assessment and provide the employer with peace of mind that the intervention is appropriate and will help reduce the ongoing effects of the discomfort.

Developing and supervising return to work programs following injury or illness When working with a client I use a self management approach where the client takes responsibility for their own recovery and rehabilitation. I aim to provide them with tools and techniques necessary to maintain a safe and durable return to work and work alongside them to achieve this goal. My level of involvement can be adapted according to that client's needs, monitoring their progress weekly if necessary.
Job task analysis Job Task Analysis is the breakdown of work tasks into components for the purpose of making a comparison between the demands of the task and the capabilities of the worker. The emphasis is on the physical demands required to perform each job task. Work environment issues must also be considered when performing Job Task Analysis.
Each job is broken down into separate units of work and each unit of work analysed for physical requirements. The analysis includes a description of each task, the tools, machines and equipment used, postures required, and the height and weight of objects lifted and/or moved. Endurance factors, such as strength required for lifting; how long the employee has to walk, stand, and sit; and the physical demands placed on shoulders, back, arms and legs are also analysed.
Back Injury Prevention Advice is given to employers on ways of preventing injuries to their employers. Bronwyn's specialities are back injury prevention and occupational overuse syndrome. Advice would include how to set up an early intervention program where an employee reports symptoms of discomfort early so further injury can be prevented.
